【摘要】:Theidentificationofanignitableliquidresidueinsamplesfromafirescenecansupportthefieldinvestigator''sopinionregardingtheorigin,fuelload,andincendiarynatureofthefire.Theidentificationofanignitableliquidresidueinafirescenedoesnotnecessarilyleadtotheconclusionthatafirewasincendiaryinnature.Furtherinvestigationmayrevealalegitimatereasonforthepresenceofignitableliquidresidues.Becauseofthevolatilityofignitableliquidsandvariationsinsamplingtechniques,theabsenceofdetectablequantitiesofignitableliquidresiduesdoesnotnecessarilyleadtotheconclusionthatignitableliquidswerenotpresentatthefirescene.Materialsnormallyfoundinabuilding,uponexposuretotheheatofafire,willformpyrolysisandcombustionproducts.Extractedionprofilingandtargetcompoundidentificationtechniquesdescribedhereinmayfacilitatetheidentificationofanignitableliquidintheextractbyreducinginterferencebycomponentsgeneratedasproductsofpyrolysis.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheidentificationofresiduesofignitableliquidsinextractsfromfiredebrissamples.Extractionproceduresaredescribedinthereferenceddocuments.1.2Althoughthistestmethodissuitableforallsamples,itisespeciallyappropriateforextractsthatcontainhighbackgroundlevelsofsubstratematerialsorpyrolysisandcombustionproducts.Thistestmethodisalsosuitablefortheidentificationofsinglecompounds,simplemixtures,ornon-petroleumbasedignitableliquids.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
